Inner Nature

Part of the Nordic Islands Action in Nature

  • 2018

  • This performance was part of an event that looked into sustainability in performance art and how art can work in peripheries.
I felt quite a lot of tension between the methods used to organise the event and its goals. We were flying between different locations and also not really integrating into the environments we worked in. When I found this huge crate that had been used to load coal from the mines I wanted to interact with it. These dystopic traces an industry started to feel parallel to my own action of participating in the event. The work became a struggle between my own fear of heights and the action I had decided to make, between my own desires to express my self and outcome of my own actions. This being parallel to my frustration of not being able to resist the participation to the event itself.
